Bernd joined our coaching team in 2023. He has been active in the CrossFit sport for many years and has worked countless hours as a CrossFit Coach.

He coaches the Connected Community in Gymnastics and currently also holds our Early Bird class on Wednesdays.

A few questions for Bernd

When did you start CrossFit?

My first contact with CrossFit was in 2012. As an absolute novice, I ventured into this fitness concept. I had an incredible muscle soreness afterwards and have loved this sport ever since.

 

What do you love about CrossFit?

The fact that the concept works. It increases personal fitness and improves health. In addition, it is fun to go to the individual limits in a group during the workout.

 

Is there Movement that you can't do?

In CrossFit there are some movements from gymnastics that are executed with the right technique behind it with momentum. For example, the Kipping Pull-Up. In addition, there is the "strict" variant in which no momentum is taken. This variant is correspondingly more strenuous. I am currently working on my strict bar muscle-up.

 

What advice would you give to someone who has never done CrossFit?

Don't think about it and just try it. One of the special things about CrossFit is that the classes are small and the coaches are there to help each athlete with all their experience. CrossFit is really suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
